Special high-voltage capacitors

In AC power lines (ACLs) of alternating current, capacitor batteries are widely used, which are connected in parallel (shunt) or sequentially into the dissection of power lines (serial) and serve to increase the transmitted power over the power lines and increase the stability of the power system. To complete the battery, a special high-voltage capacitor and capacitor banks are produced.

When transmitting electricity via direct current transmission lines, a large proportion of their equipment (about 30% of the cost of the entire transmission line) is occupied by high-voltage capacitors, which are used as damping and leveling elements in converter devices, as well as for assembling filter and shunt batteries at both receiving and receiving batteries. and at the transmitting ends of the line.

In recent years, power semiconductor (thyristor) converter devices are widely used to control the electric drive, replacing the contact-rheostat control. One of the important elements of these devices are high-voltage capacitors, designed to compensate for power, filter higher harmonics and damping vibrations.

Application:

* for operation in batteries of induction furnaces and other electrothermal installations of alternating current of 50 Hz frequency;

** to increase the power factor for shunt and filter batteries of DC power lines;

*** to increase the power factor of electrical installations of alternating current of 50 Hz frequency and for use in explosion-proof electrical equipment of underground power supply systems of mines and mines;

**** for work in installations of longitudinal compensation of reactive resistance of power lines;

***** to work in the forming lines of pulsed devices and other pulsed installations;

****** for work in the circuits of auxiliary machines of AC electric locomotives.

1) – Pulsed capacitors – used in installations for high-voltage impulse testing of power transformers, apparatuses, cables and external insulation of power lines (impulse voltage generators, commutation overvoltage generators, impulse current generators), designed to work in various impulse circuits and installations.

2) – DC capacitors – used to reduce the harmonic currents passing through the DC lines, to work in the DC switching transducers, to work in the circuits of high-frequency filters of traction substations.

Application: for a complete set of high-harmonic power filters, including those used as part of static reactive power compensators (SCRM), capacitor banks and capacitor units.
